had a great excuse to finally put together a bike mix: by covering a guest episode on Amman’s show (A Slice of Life) on Redux. I decided to record my commentary while going for a ride. I actually did this twice because the first take the Thursday evening before wasn’t very good, any my field recording rig picked up a lot of vibration noise. So I went again the Redux Friday morning, leaving at about 9:45am (after a few false starts). I even had a gnarly little spill this time because I was trying to do too much at once. Beside the wipeout, I had a great ride– mostly because it was about ideal weather and traffic conditions. I wouldn’t recommend doing it, but maybe every once in awhile. The best moments were when I did actually meld with the mix and forget I should have something deep to say.

Note the razer gaming headset with microphone… this was key to capturing my commentary. unfortunately i probably needed a bit more of a pop filter that some foam wrapped around the mic but I’ll get better at it next time.
